Full Form of AFCAT
1. Official Mandate, Scope & Background
The Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is a national competitive examination conducted biannually by the Indian Air Force to induct Class-I Gazetted Officers into Flying and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches. Qualified candidates proceed to the 5-day Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) testing regimen.
2. Eligibility Criteria, Qualifications & Age Limits
Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years; 50% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 plus graduation degree with minimum 60% marks or B.E./B.Tech with 60%. Ground Duty: 20 to 26 years; Graduate degree or PG in relevant discipline with prescribed aggregate marks.
3. Examination Scheme & Selection Procedure
Stage 1: Computer-Based Test (AFCAT online test of 100 questions, 300 marks). Stage 2: Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT) for Technical applicants. Stage 3: 5-Day AFSB testing (Stage I Screening & Stage II Psychological/Group/Interview tests). Stage 4: Medical Examination at designated Air Force Medical Board.

General Awareness (History, Geography, Defence, Current Affairs), Verbal Ability in English (Comprehension, Sentence Completion, Synonyms/Antonyms), Numerical Ability (Arithmetic, Speed-Time-Distance, Ratio & Proportion), and Reasoning & Military Aptitude.
