1. Official Mandate, Scope & Background
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) constitutes the apex network of autonomous statutory medical institutes of national importance established under the AIIMS Act 1956. AIIMS institutions provide tertiary-level clinical care, medical education, and biomedical research across New Delhi, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur, Rishikesh, and newer regional centers.
2. Eligibility Criteria, Qualifications & Age Limits
MBBS Admission: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with minimum 60% aggregate (50% for SC/ST/PwD); valid NEET UG rank. Nursing Officer (NORCET): B.Sc (Hons) Nursing / B.Sc Nursing from an INC recognized institute, or GNM diploma with minimum 2 years experience in 50-bed hospital; age 18 to 30 years.
3. Examination Scheme & Selection Procedure
Medical Admissions: NEET UG score merit followed by MCC centralized online counselling. Nursing Officers / Technical Cadres: Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test (NORCET) in two stages (Prelims MCQ screening and Mains clinical skill assessment).
4. Core Syllabus & Key Subjects
NEET UG: Core Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology based on NMC-harmonized NCERT Class 11 and 12 curricula. NORCET: General Nursing curriculum (Anatomy, Pharmacology, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Obstetrics, Pediatrics) plus General Awareness and Basic Aptitude.
