1. Official Mandate, Scope & Background

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) is India's sole uniform statutory entrance examination mandated under the National Medical Commission Act 2019 for admission to undergraduate medical (MBBS), dental (BDS), AYUSH, and veterinary programs across all government and private institutions.

2. Eligibility Criteria, Qualifications & Age Limits

Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects with minimum 50% aggregate (40% for SC/ST/OBC). Minimum age: 17 years as on 31st December of the admission year. No upper age limit.

3. Examination Scheme & Selection Procedure

Pen-and-paper OMR examination comprising 200 questions (candidates attempt 180 questions for 720 marks). Scoring: +4 for correct, -1 for incorrect. Centralized All India Quota (15%) and State Quota (85%) counseling.

4. Core Syllabus & Key Subjects

Physics (Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Electrodynamics, Optics), Chemistry (Physical, Inorganic, Organic), and Biology (Diversity in Living World, Cell Biology, Genetics, Human Physiology, Ecology) mapped to NCERT Classes 11 and 12.
