1. Official Mandate, Scope & Background
Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) is a critical frontline technical post under Indian Railways responsible for assisting the Loco Pilot in driving electric and diesel passenger, express, and freight locomotives. ALPs monitor track signals, locomotive mechanical instruments, and ensure passenger safety.
2. Eligibility Criteria, Qualifications & Age Limits
Matriculation / 10th Pass plus ITI in specified trades (Fitter, Electrician, Machinist, etc.), or 3-year Diploma / Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Automobile Engineering. Age: 18 to 33 years. Strict A-1 Medical Standard (Distant Vision: 6/6, 6/6 without glasses).
3. Examination Scheme & Selection Procedure
First Stage CBT (CBT-1: 75 Questions, 60 mins) -> Second Stage CBT (CBT-2 Part A & Part B Trade Test) -> Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT - Psycho Test) -> Document Verification and Medical Examination.
