1. Official Mandate, Scope & Background

The Border Security Force (BSF) is India's primary border guarding paramilitary organisation constituted on 1 December 1965. Guarding over 6,386 kilometers of international borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh, it operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

2. Eligibility Criteria, Qualifications & Age Limits

Constable (GD): 10th pass from recognized board; age 18 to 23 years. Assistant Commandant (AC): Bachelor's degree in any discipline; age 20 to 25 years. Physical standards: Minimum height 170 cm for males (157 cm for females), chest 80-85 cm.

3. Examination Scheme & Selection Procedure

Constable: SSC GD Constable Computer-Based Examination, Physical Efficiency Test (5 km run in 24 mins), Physical Standard Test, and Detailed Medical Examination. Assistant Commandant: UPSC CAPF (AC) Written Exam, Physical Standards/Efficiency Test, and Interview/Personality Test.
