1. Official Mandate, Scope & Background
The Indian Economic Service (IES) is an organized Group 'A' Central Civil Service tasked with macroeconomic policy formulation, price stabilization, and economic advisory under the Ministry of Finance and Planning Commission / NITI Aayog.
2. Eligibility Criteria, Qualifications & Age Limits
Post-Graduate Degree in Economics / Applied Economics / Business Economics / Econometrics from a recognized university. Age Limit: 21 to 30 years as of 1st August of the examination year.
3. Examination Scheme & Selection Procedure
Written Examination (General English, General Studies, General Economics I, General Economics II, General Economics III, and Indian Economics - 1000 Marks) followed by Viva-Voce / Interview (200 Marks).
4. Core Syllabus & Key Subjects
Microeconomics, Macroeconomic Theory, Public Finance, Econometrics, International Trade, Monetary Economics, Agricultural & Industrial Growth in India, and Fiscal Policy.
