Full Form of OFB

1. Official Mandate, Scope & Background

The Ordnance Factory Board (OFB), originally established in 1712, was the world's oldest defense industrial setup. In 2021, OFB was corporatised into seven 100% government-owned Defence Public Sector Undertakings (including Munitions India Ltd, Armoured Vehicles Nigam Ltd, and Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Ltd).

2. Eligibility Criteria, Qualifications & Age Limits

Trade Apprentice: 10th pass and ITI in relevant engineering trade (Fitter, Machinist, Turner, Electrician). Junior Scientific Officer: B.E. / B.Tech or M.Sc in Chemistry/Physics.

3. Examination Scheme & Selection Procedure

Merit list based on Matriculation and ITI marks for apprentices; Computer-Based Test and Trade Skill Test for technician cadres.

4. Core Syllabus & Key Subjects

Mechanical engineering, workshop practice, metallurgy, ballistics, explosive chemistry, and industrial safety.
