1. Official Mandate, Scope & Background
Provincial Civil Services (PCS) represents the administrative civil service cadre of state governments in India. Directly recruited officers serve as Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDM), City Magistrates, and Additional District Magistrates, and are eligible for induction into the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) after gazetted service.
2. Eligibility Criteria, Qualifications & Age Limits
Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Age Limit: Generally 21 to 40 years as of July 1st of the exam year (with 5 years relaxation for SC/ST/OBC).
3. Examination Scheme & Selection Procedure
Preliminary Examination (GS Paper I and CSAT Paper II qualifying), Mains Written Descriptive Examination (General Hindi, Essay, and General Studies Papers 1 through 6), and Personal Interview.
4. Core Syllabus & Key Subjects
Indian History & World History, Geography, Indian Constitution & Governance, International Relations, Internal Security, Science & Tech, Ethics, and in-depth State-Specific History, Culture & Economy papers.
