1. Official Mandate, Scope & Background
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is an attached office of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). It recruits staff for all non-technical Group 'B' (Non-Gazetted) and Group 'C' posts in ministries, departments, and subordinate offices of the Government of India.
2. Eligibility Criteria, Qualifications & Age Limits
Conducts examinations across educational levels: CGL (Graduation), CHSL (10+2), MTS & Havaldar (10th pass), CPO (Graduation for SI in Delhi Police/CAPF), and JE (Diploma/Degree in Engineering). Age limits span 18 to 32 years.
3. Examination Scheme & Selection Procedure
Nationwide multi-tier Computer-Based Examinations (CBT), followed by physical endurance/measurement tests (for police/armed posts), typing/stenography skill tests, and centralized document verification.
