1. Official Mandate, Scope & Background
The West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) is the state constitutional commission constituted under Article 315 of the Constitution. It conducts the West Bengal Civil Service (Executive) Examination (WBCS) for administrative, police, and revenue cadres.
2. Eligibility Criteria, Qualifications & Age Limits
Degree of a recognized university or equivalent. Candidate must possess the ability to read, write, and speak in Bengali (not mandatory for candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali). Age Limit: 21 to 36 years for Group A & C; 20 to 36 years for Group B (Police Service).
3. Examination Scheme & Selection Procedure
Stage 1: Preliminary Examination (Single Paper: General Studies - 200 Marks). Stage 2: Main Written Examination (6 Compulsory Papers + 2 Optional Papers for Group A/B - 1600 Marks). Stage 3: Personality Test (200 Marks for Group A/B).

English Composition, General Science, Current Events, History of India & National Movement, Geography of India with special reference to West Bengal, Indian Polity and Economy, and Mental Ability.
