Full Form of CAPF

1. Official Mandate, Scope & Background

The Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) refers to the collective group of security forces under the Ministry of Home Affairs: BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB. The UPSC conducts the annual CAPF (Assistant Commandants) examination to induct directly commissioned officers.

2. Eligibility Criteria, Qualifications & Age Limits

Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Both male and female candidates are eligible. Age Limit: 20 to 25 years on 1st August of the examination year (with statutory relaxations for OBC/SC/ST).

3. Examination Scheme & Selection Procedure

Stage 1: Written Examination (Paper I: General Ability & Intelligence - 250 Marks; Paper II: General Studies, Essay & Comprehension - 200 Marks). Stage 2: Physical Standards / Physical Efficiency Tests. Stage 3: Personality Test / Interview (150 Marks).

4. Core Syllabus & Key Subjects

Paper I: General Mental Ability, General Science, Current Events, Indian Polity and Economy, History of India, World Geography. Paper II: Precis writing, comprehension, and essays on Indian history, security, human rights, and governance.
