1. Official Mandate, Scope & Background

The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is a national eligibility gateway conducted by CBSE to benchmark the minimum qualifications for candidates aspiring to teach in Central Government schools such as KVS, NVS, Central Tibetan Schools, and schools under administrative control of UTs.

2. Eligibility Criteria, Qualifications & Age Limits

Paper I (Classes 1 to 5): Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed). Paper II (Classes 6 to 8): Graduation with at least 50% marks and B.Ed or 2-year D.El.Ed.

3. Examination Scheme & Selection Procedure

Offline OMR Examination consisting of two papers. 150 Objective Multiple Choice Questions for 150 marks. Qualifying benchmark is 60% (90/150) for General and 55% (82/150) for reserved categories. Certificate validity is for lifetime.

4. Core Syllabus & Key Subjects

Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, Mathematics, Environmental Studies (Paper I) or Mathematics & Science / Social Studies (Paper II).
