Full Form of TET

1. Official Mandate, Scope & Background

The Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), including Central TET (CTET) and State TETs (UPTET, REET, Super TET), is the mandatory statutory qualifying benchmark under Section 23 of the Right to Education (RTE) Act 2009 for appointment as a school teacher in Classes 1 to 8.

2. Eligibility Criteria, Qualifications & Age Limits

Paper I (Primary Level Classes 1-5): Senior Secondary with 50% marks and 2-year D.El.Ed / 4-year B.El.Ed. Paper II (Upper Primary Level Classes 6-8): Graduation with 50% marks and B.Ed / 2-year D.El.Ed.

3. Examination Scheme & Selection Procedure

Objective OMR or Computer-Based Examination comprising 150 Multiple Choice Questions (150 Marks). Minimum qualifying score is 60% (90 marks) for General category and 55% (82 marks) for reserved categories. TET certificates have lifetime validity.

4. Core Syllabus & Key Subjects

Child Development & Pedagogy (30 Qs), Language I (30 Qs), Language II (30 Qs), Mathematics (30 Qs), and Environmental Studies / Science & Mathematics / Social Studies (60 Qs).
